The Genard AIDS Foundation
Serving people with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones in Contra Costa County of California

Our Mission
The Genard AIDS Foundation provides services, support and education to people with HIV/AIDS, their families and loved ones, as they move through the trauma of living with HIV/AIDS, thereby providing them with the capacity to face death with dignity and peace.

World AIDS Day is Saturday, December 1st.

Twenty years ago, a summit of health ministers realized that a united global effort was required to halt the spread of HIV and AIDS. As a result, World AIDS Day emerged as the first international health day in December 1988. The aim of World AIDS Day is to bring to people's attention the worldwide challenges and consequences of the epidemic — ultimately, preventing the spread of HIV and improving the lives of people living with the virus.

Each year the campaign is an opportunity for organizations throughout the world to highlight the HIV pandemic in order to raise awareness and bring about change. After nearly 15 years, this will be the first year that the Genard AIDS Foundaiton will not be hosting an event. However, many local social groups will be. We suggest that you contact such organizations as the Rainbow Community Center at (925) 692-0090 to find out what World AIDS Day events are happening in Contra Costa County.

Grant Requests

The Genard AIDS Foundation is pleased to announce that we have expanded our services to better support those caring for clients with HIV/AIDS.

Now case managers, physicians, case workers, and ombudsmen can contact us directly for such support. All that is required is that an "Individual Grant Request" be submitted.

The Foundation's approved individual grants normally fall within the range of $100.00 to $1,000.00 and are intended to supplement the patient's care once all other options have been exhausted. Individuals and/or case managers, physicians and patient advocates may request support by completing our individual grant request application. All requests should be limited to this range and specifically address what funds are needed to cover what specific expense. The amount funded by the Foundation will depend on the amount requested and/or any previous grants awarded during the current calendar year.

Completed applications may be submitted to the Genard AIDS Foundation via e-mail to support@genard.org or faxed to (925) 943-2437 or sent postal mail to:
     The Genard AIDS Foundation
     1630 North Main Street, # 102
     Walnut Creek, CA 94596.

Physicians, case managers, case workers and patient advocates can expect to hear from a representative from the Genard AIDS Foundation's within 72 hours after the application for funding has been received.
